Outward Bound Sea School
The Outward Bound Sea School promotes the Maritime traditions of Croatia as a means for young people to learn the values that seafaring has taught for generations; Leadership, Courage, Responsibility, Cooperation, Generosity, Environmental Stewardship and Respect.
We have opportunities for sailors young and old to discover their roots and sail on the most famous of all Croatian sailing vessels Gajeta Falkuša. This vessel from the port of Komiža on the island of Vis was used for centuries to catch fish in waters of the Mediterranean. Its traditional race linking the island of Palagruža with the port of Komiža has been an inspiration to sailors all over world. In conjunction with ARS Halieutica Outward bound will offer week long sailing adventures to students of all ages with the chance to learn the the art and traditions of sailors trough the centuries.
The Falkuša Expedition is a seven day journey that starts and ends in the ancient Harbor of Komiža. The expedition will take place in the remote island surrounding Vis and if weather and conditions are good may even go as far as the famed island of Palagruža
Students will get the opportunity to learn traditional navigation, sail handling, safety at sea, practice fishing the way people have for centuries, come visit uninhabited islands, camp in the open air.
Outward Bound Sea School offers this exiting new trip to experience sailing on this magnificent traditional vessel. You may be one of a very few people in the world to have this truly unique experience.
